An ambitious industrial strategy
SUPPORTING AN AMBITIOUSE INVESTMENT POLICY
Carbone Savoie has launched an unprecedented modernisation programme covering its industrial equipment, robots and IT systems. Investment has been doubled for the 2016-2019 period compared to the previous period.
Carbone Savoie exports more than 95% of it production. This means we face international competition. Carbone Savoie’s ability to survive and expand depends on us continuing to invest to keep up with our clients’ needs, boost our synthetic graphite production capacity and modernise our equipment.
To ensure we can continue to invest in the long term, at Carbone Savoie we are constantly and systematically looking to improve our competitiveness and profitability. In order to do so, we need to increase productivity year on year or display real agility in our organisation to boost our profits so we can self-finance our investment.
million euros in investment (2016-2019)
THE FOUR STRATEGIC INVESTMENT PRIORITIES
Optimising our industrial capacity by eliminating bottlenecks
Modernising our production equipment and robots
Using computerisation and automation to be at the cutting edge of industrial digitalisation 4.0.
Increasing productivity to protect our investment capability.
A COLLECTIVE, PEOPLE-CENTRIC PROJECT
Success in industry demands respectful and meaningful social dialogue. We can only succeed by working with each other. Our collective intelligence depends on our ability to come to understandings with unions and move forward together in cooperation to build a company project that serves all stake-holders and not just vested interests.
Such an ambitious industrial strategy requires ever better-trained and more skilled staff and, therefore, investment in our employees’ training and growth. In 2017 Carbone Savoie opened an in-house training school to train local young adults as production operators and so ensure a gradual renewal of our workforce. And we also aim to keep up with the rise in technical requirements and demands through a continual training programme for our employees, and by offering them fulfilling career paths.
Our success depends on our ability to work with and for each other
Integrating new generations
CONTINUING TO INNOVATE TO REMAIN TECHNOLOGICAL LEADERS
Carbone Savoie is known for the excellence of its graphite blocks and powders and for placing innovation at the core of its research. For example, Carbone Savoie was the first company to develop a 100% clean ramming paste, to offer a whole range of carbon products used in reduction pots and to offer a new type of impregnation suitable for cathodes for aluminium.
Carbone Savoie currently sets aside 2% of its sales revenue for research and development. Our goal is to continue to be pioneers, working ever closer with our clients’ research centres. We want to show the industry the way and develop products that will become such standards that our competitors will be forced to copy us.
To do this, Carbone Savoie is continuing to look for breakthrough technology by developing partnerships with our universities, by joining competitiveness hubs and by working with regional and national industrials on joint research programmes in order to pool our respective know-how.
